#488 - Halloween 2020

We are joined by Ray Harrington this week! The self-proclaimed "Great Pumpkin" of comedy joins us for our yearly Chuck and Brad Podcast Halloween episode! We discuss some of the challenges that come with a pandemic Halloween. Chuck talks about the film Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark, then we discuss the new Adam Sandler film Hubie Halloween. Chuck and I offer some paltry Rejected Halloween Costumes (our worst ever), then Ray joins in on the fun. I educate Chuck and Ray about the history of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and things go off the rails. We then (surprisingly) learn about Ray's love of the Ernest films. I pose a Would You Rather? to Chuck and Ray and - to their credit - they answer it. We then briefly discuss why we are so interested in things that scare us, culminating in Ray's note-perfect Australian accent.

Chuck and I kick things off with a quick discussion about how busy he has been recently. I affirm my commitment to stillness and solitude and Chuck seems to intentionally misunderstand! After a few pieces of listener feedback, we throw it to an interview Chuck completed with Ernie O'Donnell. You may know him as Rick Derris from Clerks or any number of other creative projects. In addition, Ernie talks about Smodcastle East and the future for live events in and around Red Bank, NJ. We come back and Chuck shares the tale of a former friend and we weigh whether or not we should have this person on the podcast.

#486 - Borat 2, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, and Jamie Foxx as Electro (Again!)

We start off this week, of course, by not really remembering or understanding Rumpelstiltskin. What a weird story. Chuck puts the finishing touches on his tale about working for Kevin Smith and filming the live Jay and Silent Bob Get Old Tenth Anniversary show a few weeks ago. We talk about the movie The Box and whether or not we would push a button that gives us a million dollars (and causes someone else's death). Conan O'Brien has signed a new deal with Audible and we discuss what that means for podcasting. We discuss our feelings about Borat and the Borat 2 trailer. Chuck tells me all about the movie Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, which leads to discuss about scare pranks in general (and in specific). We close this week with a discussion about Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro in a future Spider-Man film - will this be part of a multiverse for the Marvel movies, or is it just a unique casting decision?
