#521 - Are We Too Kind To The MCU, Chuck Films With TWS, and Spiral

Chuck asks me how seriously he should take his "Best Chowder and Clam Cakes" article, which leads to a fun discussion about journalistic integrity. We discuss some listener emails regarding re-watching Tenet, my choice of cologne, and whether we are too lavish in our praise of the Marvel movies. We also discuss Chuck's Staples incident and clarify some points for another listener. We then discuss the new books from Seth Rogen and Andy Weir. We talk about some Adult Swim spin-offs and the three-film "Fear Street" series coming this summer. Chuck tells me about his trip to NYC to film with the Tuesdays With Stories guys. From there, we offer a spoiler-free review of "Spiral: From The Book Of Saw." We then make it VERY clear when we are going to start spoiling things before taking a deep dive into the film. Episode 279: Confrontational Comedy, Summerslam, and the blink-182 Concert

We are joined this week by local goofballs Lou Perella and Gina Mastrostefano. Chuck kicks things off proper by sharing some late-developing thoughts about Suicide Squad and its marketing. Does a trailer using "Bohemian Rhapsody" convey a certain tone or set of expectations? After that, Chuck tells Lou (and you?) about the Eric Andre show. Yes, we're like four seasons late to the party, but at least we got to the party! We all talk about Comedy Central's Roast Battle (from last month) and roast comedy in general. Speaking of comedy, we also break down our night performing stand-up at the Wheel House in Narragansett - our first bar show!
Chuck tells me about his weekend beach experience, I tell him about mine. We discuss Summerslam 2016 and the ending to the Brock Lesnar/Randy Orton match.
Finally, we talk about going to see Blink-182 in concert last week. On top of that, we assemble our "ideal" Blink-182 concert setlists and debate the merits of each. Fun reminiscing!
