#460 - Upgrade, The World War Z Game, and The Hunt

Hey there Chubies! We talk this week about how this current state of affairs is affecting us, as well as a health scare for one of Chuck's family members. We talk about the struggle to be creative in times like this and Chuck talks about how he has worked through some of that struggle. We discuss the movie Upgrade and how we felt about it (no spoilers). Chuck tells me about watching season one of The Sopranos, then we talk about how we are rejoining the world of online gaming. We discuss the game World War Z and how much fun we've had playing it over the past week. We talk about the new Alkaline Trio EP as well as the new Marc Maron special. I tell Chuck about the "Timmy Failure" movie on Disney Plus, Chuck tells me about Mike Birbiglia's Instagram Live show as well as the new sitcom "Beefhouse." We close with a spoiler-free review of the controversial film "The Hunt," then, after clear warnings, discuss it in-depth with plenty of spoilers (but again, plenty of warning before those spoilers.)

Episode 212: Letterman, Smartwatch Woes, and Alkaline Trio

Episode 212 starts with Brad lamenting his earlier dentist visit and the fact that his mouth is numb. He and Chuck kick into some updates, then talk about the below Web Couliers. This leads into a discussion about mashup music and the guys' views on said music. Chuck offers some Movie Driplets, talking about a 20th Century Fox "New Mutants" project, a movie starring The Lonely Island, and Harry Shearer leaving The Simpsons.
Brad uses this as a natural segue into discussing David Letterman's pending departure from TV and the impact he had on comedy. Chuck talks about his new part-time job situation, then brings back an old favorite segment "Chuck's Petty Printouts."
Once the guys have covered the topic of scams on eBay, they talk about their experiences over the past week, including an in-depth review of three of Alkaline Trio's Boston "Past Live" shows. One of the shows found Senior Discount drummer Christian Staton looking like he did in the below picture. Which is to say...putrid.

Episode 187: Maksood Tales, Chuck Ragan, and a Broken Guitar

Once again, Chuck and Brad are joined by Eric Maksood, in his first appearance as a member of Senior Discount. After introducing the first Web Coulier about Jerry Seinfeld and Wale, conversation turns to the second, as the three idiots discuss NoFX lead singer's interaction with a fan. Chuck drops some movie news on the group, spilling the beans about the forthcoming film Geezer, starring, among others, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong.
Maksood has some stories after that. He shamelessly brags about taking a young lady's virginity when he was in England, then relays the tale of the time he was in the "American Idol Experience" at Disney World. Maksood is a weird dude.
Chuck and Brad try to run down the events of the past month, beginning with a Rob Zombie movie night. What did they think of House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and Lords of Salem? A brief mention of the trip to the Roger Williams Zoo Jack-o-Lantern spectacular, then an accounting of Chuck's trip to Brooklyn to see one of the Alkaline Trio discography shows.
Speaking of music, Chuck talks about his experience with Chuck Ragan when they played together at a recent show in West Warwick. Did Chuck Ragan demonstrate the good nature that matches his reputation?*
The music talk hits a sour........note......after that, as Chuck reveals the terrible truth about breaking Maksood's guitar on the day of their very first show together. In fact, a lot of things went wrong at Senior Discount's show with Bad Larry. Find out about all of them!**
Also, we talk about Brad's to North Carolina, and Senior Discount's show in Boston. Whew!
- Brad
*Yes.
**Most of them.
