#371: A Ducktales Obsession, and James Gunn's Controversy

It's just Chuck and I this week! We talk about how tired we are and speculate on the cause of said tiredness. Chuck talks about the new Senior Discount album and how delighted he is with the reception so far. We run down the past week in our lives and say goodbye to our pal Katy; Chuck uses this time to talk at length about how excited he is about the reboot of Ducktales and the merch that goes with it, including his scam to redecorate his home in a Scrooge motif. I talk about the wedding of some friends, then we talk about Disney firing James Gunn from Guardians of the Galaxy, Volume 3. Did the company make the right choice, firing someone for off-color jokes made years ago?!

#370: Senior Discount's Album Release Party and Warped Tour

Packed house this week! We are joined by Senior Discount drummer Christian Staton, as well as his girlfriend Melissa Rodriques. Chuck's girlfriend Gina is here as well, as is our departing friend Katy Holland! So many people! After some Chuck and Brad updates, we dive into it: Chuck and Christian's band Senior Discount has released a new album through Paper and Plastick Records, and last Friday was the album release show! Hear the nitty-gritty details of the process leading up to the show, as well as a thorough review of the show itself. After that, we talk about our trip to Hartford and the band's experience playing Warped Tour. Also, Chuck and I bicker about the quality of our hotel room in Hartford. We close with some find reminiscing about Katy as she prepares to move back to Virginia.

Episode 342: Chuck and Brad's Yuletide Takeover on WBRU

For the first three weeks of December 2017, instead of our traditional weekly podcasts, we did a show on WBRU called Chuck and Brad's Yuletide Takeover! Episode 329: Saying Goodbye to WBRU, The Belko Experiment and Rick and Morty

We are joined this week by longtime guest Lou Perella and firsttime guest Peter Maldonado. Chuck and I work in some show plugs, then Chuck talks about his experience at the East Greenwich, RI restaurant Chelo's on the Water. After Chuck and I talk about resetting after the Impractical Jokers situation didn't break like we hoped it would, we talk with about going to see Green Day live with Lou. Chuck and I joke about Ray Harrington's upcoming album, about grabbing sushi from a new-to-us place, then about the movie The Belko Experiment. We discuss Senior Discount being asked to open for Crazy Town (and how that panned out for both bands). Lou and Chuck talk about longtime independent alternative station WBRU shutting down and what that means to them. Finally Chuck reveals he's recently watched the entire existing library of episodes of the television show "Rick and Morty" and discusses his enjoyment of the program while dissecting what makes him enjoy it so thoroughly.

Episode 317: The Story of "And That's Goodbye"

We're joined this week by Senior Discount drummer Christian Staton! We talk about the behind-the-scenes of the original EP for S*D's "And That's Goodbye." We walk through the whole process of the EP, from writing to recording to releasing, as Chuck and Christian regale us with band dude tales! They also discuss the behind-the-scenes of the extra tracks that will be now released on the deluxe version of "And That's Goodbye"; "Explode RI (Reignited)," "I'm Crazy (Live and Revived)," "A Death Threat to the World at Large," and "Ben Broke Edge." This is all in preparation for the release of "And That's Goodbye (Deluxe)" which drops on June 19!

Episode 228: Black Mass, Improv Fest Recap, and What Makes A Good Friendship?

The 228th episode starts with updates from C & B, and honestly...not a lot of projects on the immediate horizon for our heroes. Wait, is an immediate horizon a thing? Can we trademark that as an album title? Chuck follows the updates with some movie driplets regarding a possible (?) Sinister Six movie for real, the new American Idiot documentary, and news about sequel(s) to Prometheus.
The guys went to see the new movie Black Mass earlier this week - what did they think? Hear them break the film down! From there, Chuck tells Brad the story of the most recent Senior Discount show. Brad then recaps his experience at this year's Providence Improv Fest. Did he make new friends who thought he was special?
The podcast closes with a long discussion. This is spurred by Chuck telling the story of a friendship that dissolved, and the guys talk about what makes a good friendship, and how to avoid feeling let down. It's a sobering discussion.

Episode 225: Patrick's Move, Our Comedy Connection Recap, and Stress

Episode 225 finds Brad and Chuck each pimping some upcoming shows. After that, it's a dip into the well of Web Couliers, then some refreshing Movie Driplets. Chuck tells Brad about the futuristic Zorro reboot, as well as casting news from the Disney Jungle Cruise movie. Chuck also talks about the reveal of the identity of one of the world's most well-paid YouTube superstars. It is a bizarre situation. There's some exciting news about Marvel Heroes, as well as WWE Christmas news. After another conversation about a "Fast & Furious" amusement park ride, the guys talk about Podcast Pal Patrick's move back to town. A quick review of Summerslam leads to a longer discussion about the Senior Discount show a few nights later, and some internal issues the band is facing.
After that, Chuck and Brad talk about their recent foray into standing while talking into microphones - how did their set at the Comedy Connection go? After that, Brad talks about some of the stress he's been dealing with recently.

Episode 222: Xbox Backward Compatibility, Bad Boys Movies, and the Local Music Scene

The 222nd episode features local musician/promoter Davey Moore of Midday Records. The three guys banter about some upcoming shows and Chuck gives a bite-sized review of Senior Discount's recent show at the Met. They discuss some backward compatibility news for the Xbox One from the world of Microsoft and try and wrap their heads around how exactly it will work. From there, Chuck drops a bombshell on Brad about future movies in the "Bad Boys" franchise.
Davey brings his knowledge as a promoter to the discussion - that started a few weeks ago - about the business practices going on in the local Rhode Island music scene. What exactly is "pay to play," and how does it affect bands, promoters, and venues? What changes need to be made to more forward as a community of artists and businesspersons? A reasonable discussion is had!

Episode 132: Fall TV, S*D Announcement, and Belonging

Episode one hundred and thirty-two (really!) starts out slowly. Like, oddly so. Some strange banter about autumn and the guys' favorite things. From there, the "Kafka's Tacos" joke continues to be beat into the ground - you're welcome, Chad. That slides smoothly into some hype for Brad's upcoming improv performances.
The dynamite-ic duo talk about Fall TV and shows they are excited for. Brad starts talking about how his TV viewing habits have changed and why they have changed. This leads to a deep conversation about creating art and putting it out there for others to consume, appreciate, and eviscerate.
