#439 - Our Comic-Con with Brian O'Hallaran, the Against Me Discography Shows, The Interrupters In Concert

Chuck and I are back in the studio after a whirlwind few weeks! We start by praising PVDonuts, then go right into a recap of the Against Me discography shows we attended a few weeks back. Which songs sounded the best? Why do we love this band so much? From there, Chuck briefly touches on Halloween before we delve into our RI Comic-Con experience. We talk about the process of performing a "Clerks" show with Brian O'Hallaran and the stresses that went into it. We also include the intro and the post-show Q&A for the show for your listening delight! From there, we talk about the panels we got to moderate including "Kevin" and "Stanley" from The Office, a whole cavalcade of people associated with "The Tick," as well as Christina Ricci. Super fun weekend! And finally, we talk about going to see The Interrupters in concert in Boston this week and what a fun time that was for all involved.

Episode 295: Brammies and Chammies 2016 - Part Two

I know it seems like we've been away a short time, and we definitely have. But we need to finish talking about our favorite things of 2016! We cover our favorite music and live events, our favorite podcasts, our favorite books, and then recap our entire (very busy) year! We close by talking about some of our favorite and least favorite stuff from our personal lives. We're just trying to be honest here.

Episode 286: 2K Movies, Fun In Comedy, and a Horse Costume

Episode 286 starts with our official political endorsement (sort of), as well as our views on the election cycle. Our views are dim. After some show plugs, we talk about the below Web Couliers, then dive into some Movie Driplets. The return of Frank Grimes on The Simpsons and Green Day's American Idiot movie are discussed, then we try to figure out what a "2K" restoration is for John Carpenter's The Thing. We brainstorm about the possibilities for Sony's Spider-Man spinoff films, then talk about the new show with Demetri Martin and fake facts.
We talk about Deadpool merging with Howard the Duck and about fun in comics (and in comedy). Chuck salivates over the WWE/Ninja Turtle action figures, then we talk about Green Day's upcoming tour with Against Me. Chuck reviews local restaurants Say Cheese and Growler's Wing Bar, I talk about a food adventure and hurting my leg, then we review the recent Against Me show at Fete. Spoiler alert: we liked it.
We also talk a lot about farts this episode.

Episode 278: Louis CK, Chuck's Stand-Up Review, and Sausage Party

This episode starts out with me talking about my work burdens before we dive into the below Web Couliers. Chuck shares some movie driplets - one makes us glad, one makes us sad. We talk about the new Green Day album, Conor McGregor trash-talking the WWE roster, and podcast pal Brian Decoteaux's birthday gift to Chuck. We gleefully recap our trip to Louis CK, which leads to a discussion about my parents' comedy habits (or lack thereof). We chat about Chuck encouraging children to assault me at a 4-year-old's birthday party.
Chuck talks about the movie The Nice Guys, then his sweet kayaking trip around Bristol. We break down his stand-up set in the Last Comix Standing contest from last week, and he tells me about Foo Fest, a Providence street party.
From there, we break down the new movie Sausage Party and our thoughts on it - we say we're only going to do seven minutes' worth of spoiler-full talk, but it goes beyond that. We close the show talking about the fun night we had playing video games in a movie theatre with Lou and B Lau and then sign off!

Episode 275: Flight of the Conchords, Stand-Up Review, and Canobie Lake Park

After some Chuck and Brad updates, we talk about some news! We chat about the Netflix Marvel Universe and what we're excited about, then Chuck gets REALLY excited for the trailer for Kong: Skull Island. Chuck tells me about John Cena being cast in an HBO mockumentary about cycling, then about Joe Carnahan writing the Uncharted movie. There's a Blair Witch sequel coming out, as well as a remake of...*sigh*...Pumpkinhead.
Fans of Chuck's squabbles will be delighted to learn that this week, he's upset again, and he's setting his sights on a company going out of business. We talk about the new singles from Against Me! and Green Day, as well as Michael J. Fox appearing on stage with Coldplay.
Once the news is done, we look back at our past few weeks. We went to see Flight of the Conchords, Chuck went to Vermont, Chuck talks about the foam party last week's guests played, then we get to a weekend of stand-up. We both performed Saturday night, then I went up on Sunday as part of the Last Comix Standing. We talk a lot about what worked and what didn't, although I tend to focus on more of the latter. Then we discuss our group trip to Canobie Lake Park before Chuck tells me about his birthday at the Mystic Aquarium! We have been busy!
-Brad

P.S. After the podcast, Brad LOST HIS SHIT about the Pumpkinhead remake!!!!!

Episode 250 FIXED: Asinine Repartee, Laura Jane Grace, and Deconstructing Deadpool

*NOTE: WE PUBLISHED THE WRONG EPISODE ORIGINALLY FOR EP 250 (A RE-POST OF LAST WEEK, EP 249). BRAD HAS BEEN KILLED TO PREVENT THIS HAPPENING AGAIN. HERE IS THE RIGHT EPISODE!*
Episode 250 starts with the guys already off on a tangent - and as far as tangents go, this one was a lot of fun. After they get back into normal updates about upcoming events, they chat about the below Web Couliers. From there, Chuck provides some movie driplets about Kurt Russell in the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, possible R Ratings for some future Fox films, and Hannibal Burress joining a very mainstream project.
After that, Chuck shares a story of personal triumph that will inspire generations to come regarding his success and the "Earthworm Jim" game. There's a smooth, obvious transition to a review of the recent Laura Jane Grace show in Providence. Was it amazing? If so, how amazing was it?
For the second episode in a row, the guys spend a lot of time talking about the success of the new Deadpool movie. How did it get so big? What does that mean for the movie industry? What new intellectual property did Brad come up with? Super fun episode this week!

Episode 226: UHD Blu-Rays, S*D in Newport, and King Richard's Faire

The 226th episode begins, as loyal listeners expect, with some updates for Brad's improv life and Senior Discount. The below Web Couliers are discussed, then Chuck offers a few Movie Driplets. One has to do with some casting decisions for "Halloween Returns," the other has to do with the release of 4K Ultra High-Def Blu-Rays. Somehow this discussion also includes Brad's retirement plan. Weird.
Chuck recommends the new Against Me! live album (Brad also likes it), then the guys talk about Castle Crashers being free on the Xbox One. Chuck gives an account of the recent S*D show in Newport and an unpleasant encounter at a donut shop. C&B talk about the movies "The Death of Superman Lives" and "Windy City Heat," then Chuck talks about his new job and re-watching some classic Simpsons episodes.
Chuck talks about his new laptop (and tries to sell his old one), then Brad talks about a recent trip to King Richard's Faire. How did the notoriously crowd-disliking dude do?

It's that time again part two! Brad and Chuck review their favorite media from the previous year on the cleverly-named Brammies and Chammies! In part two of this two-part sojourn, the boys talk about their favorite books read in 2014, their favorite music from the previous year, and a cornucopia of favorites from the rest of their lives. It's the 2014 Brammies and Chammies, son!

Episode 173: Oddball 2014 and Charitable Challenges

Local ragamuffin Brian Lau joins Chuck and Brad for the 173rd edition of the Chuck and Brad Podcast. The guys start out with a plug for a show featuring Podcast Pal Matt DiChiara and his band The Copacetics - see the Web Coulier below! Chuck brings up some movie and TV Driplets, including the theatrical re-release of Saw, and the possibility of a re-vamped Full House reunion show. More TV news follows, with information about the Zach Galifianakis show being picked up by FX. The last bit of news concerns Against Me! deciding to release a live album and other assorted media. Exciting!
Brad takes the reins next, talking about how he was hoping to start a viral sensation with the Bradley Nice Thing Challenge. It is not viral. They take a second to discuss their feelings on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge currently dominating your social media feed.
Finally, the three amigos talk about the Oddball Comedy Fest 2014. B Lau tells his hellish travel story simply to get to the venue, and all three talk about the cavalcade of comedians they consumed that evening - including a special surprise!
Also, Brad would like to note that the story in this episode (in which he tortures a mouse) is "beyond the statute of limitations". It is a sick, sad, day.

Episode 171: "Now We Know What a Steak Fry Is."

Episode 171 finds Chuck and Brad joined by their celebrity doppelgangers, as Wade Bernier and Brian Decoteaux join them for some rousing discussions. C&B talk about their trip to a recent Against Me! show in Providence and talk about the energy of the evening. The discussion continues with talk about recent Marvel movie "Guardians of the Galaxy." Chuck talks about the "birthday show" that Senior Discount performed in, and about how the pod pals brought their recording set-up to allow Chuck's friends to record birthday wishes all night (to be posted at the end of this episode).
Chuck talks about his recent visit to Boston Comic-Con to visit Patrick and shop, and Brad talks about going to visit Patrick and resent crowds. The boys then fill in Wade and Brian on the recent show Chuck played with Kris Roe of The Ataris. Was Kris a good guy, or just another celebrity looking to make Brad feel bad?
Finally, Chuck and Brian talk about a disturbing night they had with forty middle-aged men and two strippers. It's pretty gross - even by our lax standards! This is one of the most sexually graphic podcast stories we've done. You've been warned!
Once that is out of the way, the podcast gives way to some more positivity, as the birthday wishes that were wished to Chuck at his birthday show are added on to the episode and shared with the world. Such sweet messages could only be meant for one man.

Episode 123: Ender's Game and Rolling Stone

The 123rd edition of Agreeing to Disagree begins with Senior Discount updates. Chuck elucidates the audience on upcoming shows in Boston and Providence, as well as a Chuck Staton acoustic performance in the near future! Equally as exciting is an announcement about a future podcast-related event!
The boys dive into the Web Couliers, possibly assigning frequent podcast listener "Classless Chad Kafka" a new career. After that, Chuck brings his "industry insider" viewpoint with some movie news relating to the announcement of Man of Steel 2, a viral website for the next "Planet of the Apes" movie, and the next movie by the Jackass guys, Bad Grandpa.
Chuck and Brad announce their campaign to "End Burrito Skimpage."
More news is bandied about, as the dynamic duo tackle the recently-announced Family Guy/Simpsons crossover and what it means for both shows. They talk about Chuck Palahniuk's sequel to Fight Club, which will be produced as a graphic novel. C&B titter about James Franco being named Comedy Central's newest roastee.
The two major topics of the week are explored next. First, the controversy surrounding the upcoming Ender's Game movie and the furor surrounding the author of the original story's views on gay marriage. Can the artist be separated from the art? Will the one-fortieth of a cent that gets to the author from one ticket sale make a difference? Following that, the boyz discuss the Boston Bomber being on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and what (if anything) that means. Also, Chuck passionately defends film star Mike Myers.

Episode 117: Chuck Staton's High School Journal and the new "Star Trek"

Episode 117 of the C&B PC (as the cool kids call it) opens with C and B (as the nerds call them) discussing the upcoming video game Payday 2, then segue into a discussion on purchasing games for systems that have already had their successors announced.
After that, some entertainment tidbits are covered. Fat Mike will be recording with Against Me! for an unnamed project! Wow! What do Brad and Chuck think about Dan Harmon's return to Community? And what did the boyz think of the new Star Trek movie?
Recently, Chuck found a journal he kept (by the side of the bed) during his senior year of high school and first year after he graduated. Stories he shares through the words of his 17 and 18-year-old self include the story of his first kiss, an almost-hookup, and his first....other experiences with girls. He shares some sad, sexy, and some sexy-yet-sad stories from that time period as well, all described with the grace and restraint of a teenager writing something that's not designed for public consumption. Enjoy!

Episode 85: Brad's Vacation, Laura Jane Grace's Transformation, and "The Avengers"

This week returns with an episode of "Agreeing To Disagree," as Brad re-joins the 'cast cast after his vacation. He tells Patrick and Chuck what he thought about the Brad-cast, and corrects an error or two that was made in his absence - including the TRUTH about "making out with a topless prostitute at a concert." Chuck offers some movie/TV droplets of information, which the boys discuss for a while. Following that, we learn about Brad's recent trip, including several chuckle-worthy moments.

Once the personal stuff is out of the way, attention shifts to the big news from the world of punk music from this past week - Against Me! singer Laura Jane Grace (formerly Tom Gabel) has announced that she is transgendered. After some in-depth discussion, they move on to the last topics - the double feature of "The Dictator" and "The Avengers." Find out their thoughts this week!
