#538 - Shang Chi, Broadway Returns (Lion King!) and Chuck Traverses the East Coast

We start out this week with a fun little contest through our Facebook page - what the heck is one of Chuck's new horror-themed nesting dolls supposed to be? From there, we hear about Chuck's trip to New Jersey to film with Kevin Smith and Steve Buscemi - aka Kev and the Boosh! Chuck films with them, bums around the state with his cool Jersey friends, then drives to New York to do some more filming with Tuesdays With Stories. Why was Chuck late, and how is it never his fault? He came back to town for a day, then went to New York to see The Lion King on Broadway. Chuck explains it all to me, then talks about having to evacuate the hotel after a suspicious fire alarm. Fortunately, he made it home safely. We then offer a spoiler-free review of Shang-Chi, make it clear when spoilers start, then take a deep, deep dive into the newest Marvel film before closing out!

#517 - Parking Morality, Fast Food Innovations, and More Appreciation For Borat

I botch our intro, but Chuck saves the day with a lengthy aside. We discuss the morality of parking in reserved parking spaces after-hours. We go through some listener emails and talk about the future of the pod, new media, merch, then get off on a tangent about fast food. It is a lengthy tangent. We talk about the trailer for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Vin Diesel's Rock 'Em Sock'Em Robots project, and Chuck tells me about a bunch of behind-the-scenes stuff from Borat 2. We close with a discussion of Chuck's recent Jersey trip and filming with the TESD guys.

#505 - Retail Ethics, Merch Ideas, and Chuck's Mystery Obsession

More listener emails to get things started! We discuss an ethical dilemma involved in the acquisition of a 4K copy of "The Greatest Showman." How should we treat corporations? How has Chuck defrauded companies in the past, and is Brad technically an accomplice? We also discuss some fan art and some ideas for merch going forward. After that, Chuck presents a pretty amazing and well-thought-out idea for a recurring fun thing that will never happen. But it would be pretty cool if it did!

#428 - Comic Book Men: On the Road, the Nordic Lodge, and Spider-Man's Sony/Disney Split

WHOA MAMA! We start with Chuck giving me a delicious sweet treat as repayments for ninja turtle-related favors! We offer some Chuck and Brad updates, then read some listener emails and discuss possible names for our listeners. Chuck discusses the TESD video "Comic Book Men: On The Road." Chuck tries to convince me to watch some scary movies for the upcoming Halloween and I am somewhat hesitant. We talk about our poker night, our trip to the new restaurant "Union Burrito" in Riverside, then Chuck tells me about the decadent buffet he experienced at the "Nordic Lodge." We talk about recording a Ninja Turtle podcast with our pals at Geeking Out with Shades and Sketch, then going to our friend's "Meatfest" cookout. We close by talking about the split between Sony and Disney regarding Spider-Man. What will this mean going forward?

#412 - Cokie the Clown, Our Comedy Tour Recap, and Avengers: Endgame

Action-packed this week! We are joined by Gina Mastrostefano, Lou Perella, and Abe Correia to discuss a bunch of stuff! We start by recapping our Hartford comedy show from last week and discuss the highs and lows we went through there. After that, we talk about a trip to NYC to see NoFX's lead singer Fat Mike perform a set as his alter-ego Cokie the Clown. How depressing was the set, and how did we feel about it? After that, we talk about the highs and lows of our comedy show in New York, then about the lows and lows of our show in Boston. (Not a typo. Lows AND lows.) After recapping our very busy weekend, we finally discuss our SPOILER-FREE thoughts on Avengers: Endgame. We then make it perfectly clear when we're about to shift into spoiler-full territory and do so, giving our thoughts and feelings on the movie that concludes Marvel's 22-movie "Infinity Saga." Get excited to hear about how much and how often and how hard we cried in the theater!

#405 - Talking To Middle Schoolers, Is Chuck A Hero?, and Captain Marvel

In this week's episode, Chuck and I talk about our recent trip to a local middle school to talk about podcasting last week. It was a fun time. In a less-fun turn of events, Chuck witnessed an elderly woman falling and talks about the aftermath.
After a break to, you know...see the movie, your heroes (Chuck and Brad, now with JORDAN FURTADO in tow) come back and offer up a SPOILER-FREE discussion of Captain Marvel. Once our thoughts on the spoiler-free front are suitably explained, we then offer up a spoiler-full review of the movie and talk about how it feeds into the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe.

#361 - Cupcake Championship, The Grand Tasting, and Avengers: Infinity War

We are joined this week by our friends Michayla Currie and Gina Mastrostefano. The four of us talk some music driplets - there's a new song out (and album forthcoming) from The Interrupters, and friend of the podcast Casey Jost has a new single AND album out! Wow! We then talk about the RI Food Fights Cupcake Championship and share our thoughts on the delicious cupcakes we ate there. Michayla tells us about going to the birthday brunch for the Instagram account "Buns and Bites" and we make many jokes. From there, Chuck and Gina talk about their experience with the new menu at Xaco Taco, then tell me about Eat Drink RI's Grand Tasting and tell me about the fancy food they ate. Once all the food talk is done, we break into a SPOILER-FREE review of Avengers: Infinity War. And once we've finished that, we have a clear separation, then launch into a SPOILER-FULL review of Avengers: Infinity War. It's a fun conversation!
- Brad

PS I have typed it as "Infinity Way" four times in a row now. That is not correct.

Episode 321: Chuck's Recycling Feud, Spoiler-Free Spider-Man Review, and a Spoiler-Full Spider-Man Review

We are joined by our pal Lou Perella this week! We start by discussing an odd situation Chuck encountered with a neighbor. This man has an unhealthy interest in Chuck's recycling habits, and trespasses on Chuck's property repeatedly while Chuck isn't home. The final straw is a 2 AM encounter that leaves Chuck very unhappy. Lou and I do nothing to help. It's wonderful.
We then offer a spoiler-free review of the new film Spider-Man: Homecoming. Once we finish that spoiler-free take on things, we go deep into spoiler territory and talk about every aspect of the movie. It's a lot of fun whenever Lou stops by, and this week is no exception!

Episode 291: Chuck House Update, Doctor Strange, and Brad's Reunion Anxiety

Whoa mama! Episode 291! After Chuck and I each plug some upcoming shows, we discuss the below Web Couliers. We talk about Marvel's "Inhumans" going to TV, Jackie Chan (our close personal friend) winning an academy award, Ryan Reynolds' take on the director leaving Deadpool 2, and the forthcoming ESPN documentary about the XFL.
We talk a little bit about comedian Kyle Kinane and how our schedules just didn't line up for an interview this week. Chuck breaks the news about his house reconstruction being delayed. Speaking of reconstruction, we have a new president and things are going to look very different. That's a weird post-Civil-War reference. Chuck reviews the food at the Congress Tavern, then we actually break down the movie Doctor Strange. Good stuff! We also talk about how much we enjoyed the now-on-video movie "Central Intelligence." Chuck went to a Pentatonix show - did he love it? It's Chuck. Of COURSE he loved it. He also talks about a wedding he went to recently. We actually close this episode talking about the anxiety I feel about my upcoming high school reunion that I'm not even going to. Honesty remains a priority for the C&BPC!!!

Episode 275: Flight of the Conchords, Stand-Up Review, and Canobie Lake Park

After some Chuck and Brad updates, we talk about some news! We chat about the Netflix Marvel Universe and what we're excited about, then Chuck gets REALLY excited for the trailer for Kong: Skull Island. Chuck tells me about John Cena being cast in an HBO mockumentary about cycling, then about Joe Carnahan writing the Uncharted movie. There's a Blair Witch sequel coming out, as well as a remake of...*sigh*...Pumpkinhead.
Fans of Chuck's squabbles will be delighted to learn that this week, he's upset again, and he's setting his sights on a company going out of business. We talk about the new singles from Against Me! and Green Day, as well as Michael J. Fox appearing on stage with Coldplay.
Once the news is done, we look back at our past few weeks. We went to see Flight of the Conchords, Chuck went to Vermont, Chuck talks about the foam party last week's guests played, then we get to a weekend of stand-up. We both performed Saturday night, then I went up on Sunday as part of the Last Comix Standing. We talk a lot about what worked and what didn't, although I tend to focus on more of the latter. Then we discuss our group trip to Canobie Lake Park before Chuck tells me about his birthday at the Mystic Aquarium! We have been busy!

P.S. After the podcast, Brad LOST HIS SHIT about the Pumpkinhead remake!!!!!

Episode 264: A Discussion About Captain America: Civil War

We finally get to talk about Captain America: Civil War! And who better to talk about it with than our pal Justin Marra. After some project plugs, we talk about the emails we received this week (including a web coulier below). From there it's a natural progression to some movie driplets, including a possible Ocean's 11 remake and rumors about the Fantastic Four sequel. Chuck talks about a beloved local retailer closing, we talk about the newest Fat Wreck Chords comp, then we are legally bound to discuss the first successful penis transplant.
After that, it's a quick spoiler-free review of the movie, then we commence with an in-depth discussion on the film's strengths and perceived weaknesses. We even find time to define "insurgent." Also, there was no legal binding about the penis thing. Just so you know.

Episode 260: Our Super Official Captain America: Civil War Contest

We are running a contest this week! While we aren't official characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (yet), that doesn't mean we can't celebrate its existence. And we do so with a ten-question quiz sprinkled throughout the episode. Answers can be submitted before Tuesday, April 26 at 11:59 via chuckandbrad@gmail.com. The episode starts with some Movie Driplets about the next Spider-Man movie, then I explain to Chuck the writers of another shared cinematic universe that has us scratching our bulbous heads in confusion, like apes confronted with a medium-difficulty Sudoku. Chuck then enlightens us with a housefire update about the person charged with stealing a check from the dumpster outside his burned-out house. We celebrate our pals Lou and Laura moving to Rhode Island, and then talk about Chuck's move to Providence for the summer.
Chuck then talks a little about the Senior Discount show last Wednesday, then talks about going to the Skylar Grey show in Boston. Brad provides an update to episode 257 for those of you concerned. There's a new entry or two in our Jurassic Snark feature, then we recap the questions and decide on a time frame for you to respond in! "What's so civil about war anyway?" - Axl Rose, I think.

Episode 230: Movie Endings, College Memories, and Festive Activities

Episode 230 begins with some standard Chuck-and-Brad updates, then the guys delve into the news about Marvel looking at making a lot more of their one-shot film projects. The dudes are appropriately stoked. From there, Chuck tells Brad about Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes (2001) and the confusion about the ending of the movie, as well as how the studio explained the ending to viewers who were left scratching their heads. Like apes. Chuck regales us all with tales of his anniversary night with Gina, then talks about some Open Mic nights he's been to recently. This somehow segues to Brad talking about guilt he feels from a college project that was literally over fifteen years ago. C&B really get into sharing some stories about their times in college. Chuck talks about his trip to NYC to see "Aladdin" on Broadway, then they talk about the "Turtle Hunt" - a daylong trip to track down and obtain some important Halloween decorations. The guys also got to see Monday Night Raw - what moment gave Brad goosebumps?

WOW! The first ever "micro-cast" of the Chuck and Brad Podcast! With a Senior Discount show canceled, the boys take advantage of the free night to record their thoughts on Spider-Man being enfolded into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The microcast starts with Chuck, Brad, and Maksood calling Patrick to talk about the upcoming 200th episode of the podcast, and the contest between Patrick and Maksood. After that, Maksood teaches Brad about Tinder and Chuck reveals the message that "Maksood" sent to a woman online - gross, Maksood.
After that? All Spider-Man, all the time. Let's hear the news and the opinions!

Episode 189: Birdman, Marvel Phase Three, and Chuck's Strange Work Situation

Chuck and Brad kick off the week with some updates - Brad has some improv shows coming up, and Senior Discount is anxiously awaiting a possible show in the very near future!
Chuck tells the tale of a recent Senior Discount show in Providence - did the weather affect the attendance? The two turkeys (har har) then talk about their Thanksgivings...most of which was spent together.
After that, the two birdmen (what?) discuss the recent movie Birdman. While Chuck and Brad both thought very highly of this movie, you'll have to do more than read this synopsis to find out why they enjoyed it so much. You'll have to listen to the podcast.
After weeks of putting it off, it could be put off no more! Brad and Chuck finally discuss the Marvel Phase 3 announcement, and talk about which movie(s) they are most looking forward to. Finally, Chuck closes the podcast telling a story involving leaving a job in a strange manner. Did he get fired? Did he get laid off? Is there a convincing impostor claiming to be Chuck at work right now? No one knows!

Episode 154: The Story of Dan Martin

Another big interview episode! This week the guyzos (part guy, part bozo) meet with local guyzo Dan Martin. After some quick updates concerning projects the three scoundrels are working on, Chuck offers a few movie driplets. News about the Sinister Six movie, the new Truman Show, uh, show, and some shifts in the world of late night television. Chuck then talks about the death of beloved comics character Archie and the exhumation (possibly) of a landfill's worth of ET cartridges. Our three compatriots then chat about the brand new movie "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", and what they thought of it.
The interview itself then begins with Dan's childhood. Hear his unflinching take (well, Brad flinched through most of it) on how his upbringing affected his sense of humor and comedy. What were the pivotal moments that led to him taking on stand-up as an art form, and why does he enjoy it so much? What did Mick Foley tell him about titties? It's a refreshingly clear look at Dan's devotion to art and comedy.

Episode 113: Iron Man 3, Video Game Writing, and support among artists

Episode 113 starts out with some blasts from the past/future, as Chuck and Brad talk about the rescheduled Senior Discount show, which was technically Thursday night (May 9), but the podcast was recorded on May 8th. Much time travel merriment is had.
Chuck and Brad discuss the below Web Coulier - a trailer for the upcoming movie "Ender's Game." Brad is cautiously optimistic. Chuck does not like space.
Chuck's movie driplet this week spawns a side conversation - isn't it awesome that Marvel president Kevin Feige can praise DC movies and hope for their success? And that Joss Whedon and JJ Abrams helped with the third act of Iron Man 3?
Once that is done, the boys talk about writing in video games. Brad is particularly enamored with the writing in Bioshock: Infinite, and they discuss games they've played that they really got into the story.
The meat of the podcast, however, is a hearty discussion about their trip to Boston to see Iron Man 3. We learn about Brad's increasing desire to go to sleep early as well as Chuck's passion for filet mignon potato skins. They discuss the movie in general terms before announcing a hearty and healthy spoiler alert and then discussing the film in depth.
The podcast ends with Brad admitting to a failure in his personal life and apologizing for it to Chuck.
