#377 - The Cranking and Skanking Festival, WBRU Summer Concert Series, and "Searching"

Back in the studio this week. We plug some upcoming shows, then get into movie driplets - the Venom movie MIGHT have Tom Holland show up, Dave Bautista isn't happy with Disney, then a few other things I forgot to write down. After that, we talk about Chuck's band playing the Cranking and Skanking Festival in Worcester with Big D and the Kids Table, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, the Bouncing Souls, and so many others! From there, Chuck tells me about his band (finally) playing one of the nights on WBRU's Summer Concert Series. We close by talking about the new movie "Searching" and how much we both enjoyed it. Spoiler alert: a lot.

#355 - Kevin Lyman Talks the Final Warped Tour

Wow! We're joined via Skype this week by the one and only Kevin Lyman!!! The founder of the Vans' Warped Tour! We start out with an announcement of a new band added to the Hartford date of the tour (Sunday, July 15, be there). We talk about Kevin's history, the history of the tour, and some fun moments along the way. A great talk with a great dude!

PS I had some microphone issues so Chuck does most of the talking for us this week. It's better that way, believe me.

Episode 309: The Story of Bowling For Soup

Wow! I went to Boston, got on a tour bus and interviewed the insanely welcoming Erik Chandler from Bowling For Soup! As we tend to do, we started at the BEGINNING! I went in for the details of how the band started in Wichita Falls, the journey from regular guy to musician, the justification for taking art seriously enough to make it a career, the "Holy Shit!" moments about moving forward, some super-secret tips for bands on how to fund their dreams, a "Back to the Future" reference that DOESN'T come from me, and a whole lot of band dude talk! This was a great time! And without giving anything away, I'm very excited for future stories with BFS.....!!!

Another awesome interview! We get together with Matt "Catfood" Kelley to talk about the local scene. How did Lemon Lime Tennis Shoes start? How did Matt get so good at guitar? Episode 277: The Story of Pancake

We recorded this in the same session as the previous episode, so Mike "Pancake" Florio (who really doesn't enjoy that nickname) and Eric "Scrunchy" Maksood (loves that nickname) are here to talk about memories of the local music scene. Mike has lived a strange charmed musical life and tells us some great road stories. We also hear about how a photo of his genitals ended up plastered all over the internet! Whoa mama!

Episode 273: Warped Tour, Ghostbusters, and The Story of No Plateau

Before we are joined by our special guests, we have news to recap and recount! Because we're such cool big shots, we covered the Warped Tour as press! What does that mean? We're still trying to figure that out! Who was our favorite band? How did we avoid sunburn? How do chicken fingers relate to an erection? We answer all of those questions (even though that last one is pretty self-explanatory). We also review the new Ghostbusters movie and discuss what we liked and what we didn't about the film.
From there, we are joined by Christian Staton and Sean Murphy of Providence-based band No Plateau. We immediately learn that Christian has a depraved past and don't let go of it the entire episode. We also learn about their forays into music, how they got together, and the story behind their new EP, No One But Me.

Episode 219: Comic-Con Trailers, Pay to Play, and The Story of Rob

Episode 219 of the C&B P-C kicks off with special guest Rob Courtemanche joining the guys in the studio. After some updates concerning upcoming shows, the guys discuss the passel of trailers that came out at Comic-Con this past week. They dish about Deadpool! They squawk about Suicide Squad! They BS about Batman vs Superman. They, um, move their lips about X-Men: Apocalypse? Finally, Chuck dives into Hugh Jackman's revelation about Old Man Logan being the third and final standalone Wolverine film and what that means to him personally. The comic stuff taken care of, the three pals talk about some recent "pay to play" controversy in the Rhode Island music scene and their feelings thereon.
After that, the interview portion of the podcast commences. Chuck and Brad pepper Rob with questions about his musical history and Rob unearths some dynamite stories from his involvement with the bands Bad Larry, Turning Blue, Verbana Darvell, Danger Room, Paler Ghost and The Pogs! They talk about art and music and touring and Xboxes. It's a great conversation, sure to be continued when Senior Discount plays out on July 31st!

Mallrats 2! Some exciting news about the April Fool's update to Dying Light, then the wrestling talk begins in earnest! All five gentlemen discuss the recent Wrestlemania 31 and their feelings about the event, about WWE programming as of late, and even some nostalgic looks back into their own pasts with wrestling. Each match on the Wrestlemania 31 card is broken down and evaluated on its merits.
Finally, Chuck and Brad turn their attention to the original purpose of the episode - talking with Sweet Babylon about Sweet Babylon! We scratch the surface of this positive, fun-loving local band and get excited for their upcoming shows!

Episode 182: Halloween 2014

Chuck and Brad are joined by Halloween "experts" Nic Hallenbeck and Brian Decoteaux for a spooky talk about the spookiest season of the year! After some chatter about upcoming events and the below Web Coulier, the guys break into topic number one - the animated special known as "Halloween Is Grinch Night." Is it good? How does it fit into the extended Grinch-verse? Hear the unbiased, uncensored review!
The second topic is brainstorming - costume ideas and treat ideas. And while Brad doesn't have many ideas, rest assured they are better than any of the ideas Chuck solicited from friend of the podcast Eric Maksood.
Chuck then offers his Ultimate-As-Of-Now Halloween Playlist. A ton of songs from a ton of bands! The guys discuss the appropriateness of the songs mentioned and offer suggestions of their own. Listen soon and get in the Halloween "spirit!" (Even that is better than Maksood's jokes.)

It's the return of the Larry! This week, part two of the two-part interview with two "handsome studs" (their words, not ours) from Bad Larry. Episode 155: The Story of Bad Larry, Part One

A double interview this week! In fact, the double interview was so big it has to be split into two parts! That's pretty much four interviews for the price of none! As Chuck says - "Whoa mama!" This week, Chuck and Brad welcome Nick and Walt from local band Bad Larry into the studio/Chuck's kitchen. After some quick plugs for upcoming gigs, the four scoundrels wax nostalgic about the coming-up days of Bad Larry. Hear about musical influences of the band, learn about Cranston high school band rivalries, the infamous fistfight as VBW House (Was Chuck's head pushed through a window screen? Spoiler alert: Yes.), and other ridiculous stories from the guests (and the hosts). Part two up next week!

Opening/Closing Song: Bad Larry - "Shudder To Think"
