#509 - Montezuma's Revenge, Thunder Road, and Chuck Needs a Win

Chuck wonders about the term "Montezuma's Revenge" and its origins, which leads to a discussion about legacy - is it better to be known for something gross or forgotten? Chuck pushes me on my fictional legacy. We read some listener emails, one of which forces us to dive into our knowledge of pop-punk songs and which ones we love. We talk about the recent weather event in Texas and how they affected our Lone Star Pals. Chuck opens up about the dynamic relationship between receiving public praise and dealing with private failures and that struggle. We then discuss the movie "Thunder Road," and how we feel about Jim Cummings. I tell Chuck all about the listener-recommended show Joe Pera Talks With You and how much I enjoyed it. I also mention Derek Delgaudio's In and Of Itself, but can't talk too much about it without spoiling things for Chuck. We then discuss the trailer for the new Mortal Kombat movie and our experiences with the Mortal Kombat franchise. From there, it's video game news - Tony Hawk coming to the Switch, a new documentary series about Nintendo - a quick step away to discuss Disney Plus' Parental Controls. We then discuss the upcoming documentary "Murder Among The Mormons" before closing with a discussion about a TV show based on the Playstation series of "Twisted Metal" games.

#365 - Crom Worx Pins and Splatoon 2

A rare "short" episode for us, as Chuck is fighting against a sore throat (and losing, as you'll be able to hear)! He has enough strength to plug our show at the Comedy Connection on June 21, then tell me about the awesome enamel pins he got from Crom Worx. We discuss our recent stand-up outing at AS220, then I talk about my recent adventures playing Splatoon 2. That's it this week! Crazy short!

Episode 344: Chuck's Nintendo Scam and A Look Back At 2017

We kick off this week with a discussion about some awesome enamel pins Chuck received from the good people at Wicked Critter Co. Ill admit it -they're pretty great, even if Chuck's the only one getting hooked up*. From there, Chuck tells me about his scam to make enough money to get a Nintendo Switch (plus games), an NES Classic (above retail), and an SNES Classic (plus a wireless controller) for a total of $0 spent. And he did it!! Wow! NOTE: If I don't seem impressed when Chuck's telling me about it, it's because I'm not surprised he's able to pull these things off.
After that, we talk about our feelings concerning Chuck and Brad's Best Christmas Show Ever, which was December 21. After that, we look back, week by week, at ALL of 2017 and talk about the things we did artistically and personally and how they shaped us as performers and individuals.

Episode 332: New Futurama, The Future Of Technology, and "UHF" Live

We're joined this week by local self-proclaimed beauty queen Gina Mastrostefano. We review some listener emails discussing the power of language, a Die Hard Christmas book, the Ducktales theme song in emojis, and a sketch from James Corden. We then duck into movie driplets about an upcoming Jim Carrey/Andy Kaufman documentary and the new Futurama episode (recorded through Nerdist). Chuck tells us about new innovations in wireless charging; this leads to a long discussion about the future of technology and what it will look like and how quickly we'll get there. An unplanned tangent that leads to some really interesting places! Even more interesting than the year 3000? The new Batman/TMNT comic book crossover! We talk about the band "Decapitated" and the charges against them, then talk about Chuck's Nintendo Switch and we all marvel at his Mario Kart prowess. We recount a recent trip to see a screening of "UHF" and Q&A with Weird Al Yankovic, then talk about our time this weekend riding electric bikes around Bristol!

Episode 297: Appropriate Joke Targets, Nintendo Switch, and Stephen Lynch Live

We kick off this week with some basic updates, then a recap of an email sent in by one of our favorite listeners. True to form, we stay 100% on subject and contribute no nonsense to the discussion of this email. After that, we talk about the SNL writer suspended for making a joke about the president's son - was it too far? Are other minors in the limelight treated the same way? A real discussion! We come back from that and talk about Alien 5, a new Leslie Mann comedy (those are separate projects, although I would absolutely watch a crossover), as well as Jerry Seinfeld providing new content exclusively for Netflix.
We talk about the below Web Coulier, then the news that there is new music coming from Goldfinger, Blink-182, and the Transplants. Kevin Smith is part of the new Call of Duty DLC, which confuses both of us. We talk about the Nintendo Switch and our impressions of the new console. We talk about the Women's March(es) this past weekend, then review the Stephen Lynch show we saw last week. Was it ruined by drunk idiots? Yes! We discuss our recent stand-up appearances at Comix (there were also drunk idiots there), then Chuck poses a very important and interesting question based in the Spider-Man universe!

Episode 289: The Shining, Halloween Activities, and The Interrupters

Chuck and I dive right into talk about some stuff we did the week of Halloween. Chuck went to see "The Shining" in theaters and we break it down. He also watched the documentary Room 237 and we break THAT down. I know it's not cool to say about our own podcast, but I really enjoyed this conversation. Chuck relays tales from his exciting weekend to me, we talk about our trip to Boston to see WWE Hell in a Cell (in costume)!
We talk about Chuck's band Senior Discount opening for Strung Out, Hannibal Burress' new podcast, and the treasure trove of pop culture that arrived in mid-October: the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 teaser, the Nintendo Switch announcement, the Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, the new Blink-182 video, and the trailer for Logan. Whoa mama! We also chat about some recent very entertaining issues of Spider-Man and Deadpool
We close this week by reviewing the recent show by The Interrupters at Brighton Music Hall in Boston. Also a fun conversation! I'm full of myself!

Episode 282: Super Mario Run, Rob Lowe Roast, and CM Punk's UFC Debut

The 282nd installment begins with some show updates, then goes to the movie driplets. Jurassic World is going to be a trilogy - guess how excited Chuck is for that? We learn who the villain will be for the third Wolverine movie, and talk about the upcoming Stan Lee biopic. Nintendo recently announced an endless runner game coming to iOS systems - we have feelings about this. Chuck laments the news that the upgraded PS4 will not have a 4K blu-ray drive. I remain ambivalent.
We talk about the Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe and try to figure out why we didn't like it as much as previous roasts. Chuck talks about his struggle to get Green Day tickets, but gets excited about the chance to see Reel Big Fish play one of their albums live.
We close the show by talking extensively about CM Punk's venture into mixed martial arts. Unsurprisingly, we are firmly in his corner, and passionately defend his stance to an uncaring MMA community.

Episode 217: Appropriate Comedy, Feminism in Jurassic World, and E3 Views

The 217th installment slides into your brain or something this week. After some updates on upcoming shows, the guys discuss the below Web Couliers; well, at least one of them at this time. Chuck provides some movie driplets about the second Guardians of the Galaxy and the second season of Netflix's Daredevil. He throws in an odd story about Jared Leto's Joker from the upcoming Suicide Squad film as well. There's some discussion around The Last of Us 2 for PS4, then the recently announced JK Rowling-written Harry Potter play.
Chuck brings up an article he recently read concerning Amy Schumer's jokes about race. This leads to a deep discussion about what is appropriate in the world of comedy. Many jokes are made. After that, Chuck - who has a masochistic streak to his reading material - brings in another article concerning the allegedly anti-feminist messages of Jurassic World. Given one of the tags for this week's episode is "poor journalism," guess how the guys feel about the author's supposed points?
A few smaller topics follow - a fake plane crash prank done to Paris Hilton divides the guys, and Chuck tries to relay his joy at the Bad Boy reunion on the recent BET Awards. C&B talk about the new Pixar movie "Inside Out" and discuss their enjoyment levels thereof, then close the show by talking about their feelings on the Electronics Entertainment Expo announcements. If you are the guy who sat in front of Brad at the Sony thing, I am sorry I kicked your chair, but still think you're kind of a narrow-minded buffoon.

Episode 211: Marvel speculation, Saying goodbye to the Xbox 360, and Brad's online dating profile

The 211th episode of the podcast features Brad and Chuck joined by the talented and cunicular Gina Mastrostefano. After some quick updates, Chuck provides some movie news about a Three Stooges sequel and the guys are super excited. Some news about Nintendo's new multi-device membership follows, as well as wild rampant speculation about Nintendo's future. We learn about a new Muppets series coming to ABC in the fall and Brad is unduly stoked for it. Gina's misunderstanding about Marvel's "Civil War" storyline in Captain America 3 amuse and delight Chuck and Brad.
They also plan out a Howard the Duck standalone project.
Chuck says goodbye to his Xbox 360 and talks about how much the console meant to him over the years. The guys talk about their favorite 360 moments and Gina is conspicuous in her silence.
Once the tears have dried, Brad works on an online dating profile. Which site did he choose, and how did Chuck and Gina help?

Episode 204: Bickering in Relationships, American Sniper Libel, the Joys of Filming, and Fixing Chappie

Episode 204 begins with Brad correctly introducing the podcast on the first try. After some Senior Discount and Brad updates, the guys talk about bickering in relationships and how that works and looks. From there, it's a brief discussion on anger and how the guys demonstrate that (with a stirring example from Chuck's home life). Chuck has Movie Driplets about Super Troopers 2 and a new Lego movie.
Podcast Pal Patrick Dennis wrote himself a letter a few years ago, and the guys take a somber look at the letter as they broadcast Patrick's private thoughts to the world. Also...what's up with the new Nintendo console? Chuck and Brad move on to a topic frequent listeners enjoy - their understanding of the law, as they discuss the libel case brought by Jesse Ventura against "American Sniper" Chris Kyle.
Happier topics include T-Mobile's announcement of Music Freedom, and the free music streaming offered by the carrier. Also, who are some of the characters in the new Mortal Kombat game? There's some speculation between C&B about which character will die in Avengers 2 before they move on to discussing their own filming project and the glee they are taking in it. Finally, Chuck and Brad debut a new segment called "Chuck and Brad fix..." and use that segment to discuss, spoil, and fix the movie "Chappie."

Episode 163: First Impressions, E3, and Chuck's New Philosophy

This week's episode starts with some lighthearted banter about the boyz' evening dinner plans and how they had to be adapted. From there, we hear about Brad's upcoming improv shows and Chuck/S*D's upcoming rock shows. Chuck then offers some Movie Driplets (TM pending) about the casting of Gambit, the director of Dr. Strange, and the new director for Ant-Man.
Brad and Chuck then discuss first impressions - how hard it is for Brad to make not only positive first impressions, but any first impressions at all. They talk about why that is, what it should be, and how changes can be made. They also joke about the first impressions people have of Chuck and talk about specific interactions that demonstrate certain aspects of Chuck's personality. (They are later joined by Podcast Pal Niki Holden who offers her take on meeting Brad for the first time.) From there, we hear what C&B have to say about the recent E3 event and the announcements by Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony - what games have the guys foaming at their shared mouth?
Chuck then tells Brad (and you, the podcast audience) about a change in his working situation, and how it is designed to inflict maximum enjoyment on him and everyone around him this summer.
